Recognising the development of the NPIA, ACPOS has funded a post within NPIA to promote a two way flow of information between the organisations in order to ensure that both are better informed regarding significant business change which has an implication for either organisation.
The ACPOS postholder will be available to provide a gateway to the Scottish forces and agencies, and the NPIA, to assist in communication and consultation.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between ACPOS and NPIA at the Scottish Police College in Tulliallan, by ACPOS President Chief Constable Patrick Shearer and the Chief Executive Officer of the NPIA, Chief Constable Peter Neyroud. It sets out the ways in which the NPIA and ACPOS will work closely with each other.
The document recognises the informal and ongoing collaborative working between NPIA and ACPOS, allowing for the differing jurisdictions and sets out the principles for cooperation which will complement the existing arrangements and extensive collaboration between ACPOS and ACPO forces in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
